Origins of MARISA YOULDEN JEWELRY

Picture
Marisa Youlden, a jewelry designer originally from San Francisco, California, has currently established herself in Ashland, Oregon where she hand crafts all of her pieces in her home studio while enjoying all the benefits of living and thriving in Southern Oregon! Marisa is a self taught bead worker and metal smith. She started her love affair with jewelry as a child watching her mother, a goldsmith, designing Lost Wax Castings and helping her find the tiny gem stones she would occasionally drop on the floor; the beginning of her obsession with gemstones! She spent hours digging through piles of tumbled stones in the window display of a lapidary center in San Francisco as a child. The obsession took a firm grip on her!!!  Marisa spent many years designing costume jewelry for a fire and fashion performance circus troupe she performed with, called El Circo, which came to recognition in the Burning Man Scene of 1999-2007. Her specialty was creating runway style showpiece necklaces, head dresses and body harnesses to compliment the costume stylings of Tiffa Novoa's outrageous fashion shows at Burning Man and places beyond. Eventually, this brought her to Los Angeles where she began to create jewelry for Smashbox Fashion Shows at LA Fashion Week and a variety of Fashion Shows with SkinGraft, Ernte, Kuccoon and many others. Her jewelry was carried for many years at Nina at Fred Segal in Santa Monica, CA where she designed custom pieces for many celebrity performers such as Shakira (Hips Don't Lie), Pink, The White Stripes and many more. Marisa has happily settled into her Oregon life and is currently creating a wide range of jewelry to compliment an everyday Contemporary Lifestyle.
